Alıştırma külodu bebeğin kaslarının gelişimi için oldukça faydalıdır.Alıştırma külodunu kullanmadan once bir hafta boyunca tuvalet ve külot kullanımı bebeğinize anlatılarak,bebeğiniz psikolojik olarak hazırlanır. Bir hafta sonra alıştırma külodu tören havasında giydirilir. Bebeğin tuvalete gitme zamanları bellidir. Genellikle yemeklerden hemen sonra , uykudan uyandıktan sonra ,bebek lazımlığa oturtularak, lazımlıkta normalden uzun süre geçirmesi sağlanır. Bebek lazımlıkta oturduğu sürece de neden lazımlıkta oturduğu bebeğe anlatılır. Bebeğin kasları gelişene kadar (1-2 hafta kadar) bu uygulamayı sürdürülür. Alıştırma külodunu dışarıya sıvı geçirmez( kuru tutmak) yapmak mümkün. Ancak bu tercih edilmemeli. Çünkü bebek ıslaklığı hissedip rahatsız olmalı.
